There’s a Foxhole in My Bed
Books have always held inspiration and a sense of magic for Ena Vasudevan.
As a child, her mother would tell her to bring a book everywhere she went.
That way, she would never get bored. One of Ena’s fondest memories is of her father reading to her. She would get snuggled in and listen to the works of Beatrix Potter, The Magic Pudding and The Wind in The Willows. Some of her favourite authors include A. A. Milne, J. R. R. Tolkien and Alexander McCall Smith. Ena was a Special Education Teacher for over thirty five years. She firmly believes creativity and imagination are essential in life, no matter your age.
Travelling, learning, excellent books and well-composed music have enriched Ena’s life. She hopes to ignite this excitement and child-like wonder in others.
There’s a Foxhole in My Bed is Ena’s first published picture book. The motivation for the story was to create something for her grandniece, Indi, who was born during the pandemic. Ena’s sister, Henrietta, encouraged her to “do something” with her artwork. And thus, the story began to unfold. Ena says writing her first book has rekindled her imagination.
She even learned of two animals that she had never heard of before. We won’t spill what they are, though. You might have to read the story to find out!
